Patricia and her husband, Lynn, chose to live in rural Dallas County. Patricia lived in West Des Moines. Lynn lived in St. Louis. They chose Dallas County with its small town living and big city feel. They have two rescued fur babies. Patricia is a master gardener, and maintains seven colorful flower beds and a full vegetable garden. Mr. Henderson owns an agricultural media group, including Agri Marketing magazine and its digital media.

Patricia is the owner of ETIQUETTE IOWA, which trains corporations, academic institutions and trade associations on proper business and social etiquette and civility. Her clients include students from Iowa State University, The University of Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa, the State Fair Queens and agricultural groups such as the Iowa Soybean Association.

Patricia is a dedicated civic and community leader who has consistently worked to strengthen local connections and improve everyday life for residents. She has partnered with neighborhood groups, schools, and small businesses to support volunteer efforts, youth programs, and practical community improvements. Her collaborative style brings people together to find solutions that benefit the broader community.

She is known for turning ideas into action, navigating local systems effectively while keeping residents' needs at the forefront. With a focus on transparency and accountability, Patricia has earned the trust of those she serves and remains committed to building a stronger, more connected community.

College Counselor & Professor

Patricia served as a college counselor and professor dedicated to helping students succeed. She supported high school students in planning their futures and, at Abraham Lincoln High School, helped secure nearly $30 million in scholarships while leading key academic programs and events.

She also taught and mentored more than 1,000 adult learners at the graduate level, guiding research projects and career development. Her work reflects a strong commitment to expanding opportunity and helping students achieve their goals.

Patricia's accomplishments reflect a lifelong commitment to education, leadership, and service. She is an author of two books on professional etiquette and was recognized as Educator of the Year by the South Des Moines Chamber of Commerce. Her expertise has been sought at the national level, including service on a U.S. Department of Defense scientific peer review panel, and she has received multiple honors for excellence in teaching and professional achievement.

She has also demonstrated strong community leadership, serving as president of the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines and participating in respected leadership programs such as Leadership Iowa and Leadership USA. Her recognitions and roles highlight a career defined by impact in both education and community service.

Patricia holds a Doctor of Philosophy (D. Phil.) in Religion and Society from Oxford Graduate School, where she earned distinction for her research and writing, including the Oxford Grail Award and induction into the Oxford Society of Scholars. Her doctoral work focused on stress in the workplace, reflecting an early commitment to understanding real-world challenges.

She also earned both her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Education from Iowa State University, with an emphasis in counseling education. Her academic background laid the foundation for a career dedicated to teaching, mentorship, and student support.
