It was an honor and a privilege to respond to the Des Moines Register’s request for information about why we are running, and the biggest issues facing Dallas County. Trust, integrity and respect are in the forefront of my campaign.
A portion of my responses are below:
Dallas County is the fastest growing county in the state. This [rapid growth] brings with it a new set of issues. How do we continue to serve our citizens while dealing with record growth? We now have a population of 115,000 people in Dallas County. My campaign theme is: LOVE.LISTEN.LEARN. Basic human needs do not change when the population grows, but basic needs may be amplified. What are we doing about food insecurity, housing insecurity, child care, before and after school care? We need to tap into our local mayors and discover what needs and services their citizens need and respond in a thoughtful, caring way.
We have 14 mayors within Dallas County. Our towns range in population from 110 (Dawson) to 34,420 (Waukee). We need to implement a strategic planning session with all of our mayors to discover and learn what the needs are in each town. Are our Dallas County towns receiving the services they are paying for? …Strategic planning by the leaders will not only improve services, but also the level of communication.
We invite you to become part of our team. LOVE.LEARN.LISTEN.
